Diya At School

Diya ohhhh Diya... She finally started schooling! I should have written about this long time ago when she had her 1st day there... Some how I was so busy with the things to do for Diya to and totally forgotten to write, well most of the time I was more on delaying to write this blog.
During Diya's time at school, I will take this opportunity to lepaks and chill with myself or friends at the nearest cafes'... It is not so difficult to find one as her school is in the middle of a mall and starbucks is just a few steps away. We normally would chill at kopitiam or coffee shops and chat till it is time to pickup our kids from school. Cool ha? Not bad lah for a full-time mom like me. At least I get to have some time off from my kid and do all the stuff i have been wanting to do when shes at school hehe.. Sometimes I'll do light groceries shopping, or some other time I will just hang out at the cafes with my laptop and do my unfinished/delayed work. Neways, enough bout me.. Back to story bout Diya going to school heheheh...
On her 1st day of school she didn't cry at all. And of cause lah she has her friend Tischa with her there.. (will write bout Tischa in a Different entry yah) blur sikit lah in the morning and she refused to wear the new clothes I got for school. I made her egg sandwich and some cookies cereal, also Ribena drink in her cute Minnie Mouse lunch box set! I got her a matching Minnie mouse school bag too heheheh... Siapa lah yang tak excited bila anak dia nak pergi hari pertama sekolah kan??? I think I was too excited kot? Sighss.. I got her a set of purple top and jeans with a cool purple sleeveless jacket just in case she gets cold in the morning at school. But like I said, she just refuse to wear her new clothes early morning huuhuhuhu... It is okay, still hoping one day she would want to wear the jacket though.
I left her at school around 9.30am and suppose to fetch her back at 12 pm. Once I left all the scary thoughts came to mind.. She would cry and i would cry too! Thanx to Tisha's mom Misa who kept me company for the day and even the whole week! When I picked her up I expected she would her lungs out but instead and to my surprise she did not. Happily greet me with a huge smile, and keep saying 'Mumy I miss you'!!! So cute! The moment we all got into the car the kids started singing! I was shocked and overwhelmed to see Diya's improvement n just one day! Her 1st song was 'Watermelon' song. The melody is like 'Are You Sleeping Brother John' song. So cute when they sing!!! Since day one she went to school she learn to sing so much. Many and many songs she can sing now..
I think she is a much happier kid now. With her new school routine she gets better and improve a lot in most of her skill. Although she still haven’t spoken properly like she should at her age but I can see her improving and I finally can stop worrying now.
Alhamdulillah.

Visiting The Garden With Tischa

We had splendid day at The Gardens today! Diya, Tischa and her mom and myself. We had planned to go out today but haven’t decide on where to go exactly and later I thought why have the same routine and stil go the the same mall all the time kan? And so why not The Gardens..

It took us almost an hour to find a parking spot and finally once we found one, straight away we went to the mall. There were so many people there most probably because it’s the ‘back to school’ season and every body is like going shopping there.
First thing first; FOOD! We were so hungry as it was already 2pm. Went looking around and finally we decided to have lunch at The Garden Food Court. Kids share plain rice with soup and us moms had sizzling rice and noodle. They provide small kids area nearby the entrance that makes it easier for us to eat and kids play once they are done with their food.

Later we went window-shopping around and I saw this beautiful red wallet at Charles & Keith and dying to have it! But wait! Not yet… so we continue to walk around the mall until it was time for us to get back home before the traffic jam starts.

Making Cekodok

This is one of Diya’s Favorite cekodok; cekodok lemak manis. Since I don’t know how to make this from scratch, I just got the instant package and surprisingly they taste so SEDAP!
Lately I started to have tea time for myself at home.. I make simple fried noodle ker, kuew teow ker, cekodok ker, sometimes I will buy bread at bakery shop and have them with coffee, tea or hot milo.. Not that I tak nak jaga my ‘makan’ but I feel that now I have Diya I should make her to feel homey and as how I get to have when I was small. I can still remember how my grandma used to make and cook everything for me from scratch! She even make me sedap roti canai!!!
I want diya to have all that. I want her to remember that ‘my mom used to make me this.. and that..’ my mom used to be a very busy career woman and doesn’t have much time for me when I was small. Most if the time it was maid, grandma n granddad sometimes and my aunt. So every time grandma is around she will always cook me all those fancy food and so will I do it for my Diya. I don’t ever want to go back into corporate world, I just want to raise my Diya.
Moga Di Izinkan Allah.

New year!

Alhamdulillah, it has been almost a full year for 2009.. And for me I plan to start fresh! I want to blog fresh, I want to dress fresh, I want everything to be fresh!!! Been a while from my last posting here, due to my busyness of bakings, Diya and her activities and many more… busy as a bee sampai I tak sengaja, well I sengaja lah abaikan blog ni coz I had to.. Sorry dearies.. Like I said; I nak start FRESH..

Ok.. What have I been busy for/with? Well.. My cakes mostly..

Those pictures are from my latest design cake collections, you can view more at www.pumpkinmumycupcakes.com well as you can see, I now make cakes too! Mostly customers love my cartoon cakes..
Apart from baking, I have also been busy with Diya and her play group Alim Kids (http://alimkidsplaygrouptamantun.blogspot.com/)
activities. I even joined one of the activities and became one of the speakers ( will write about this separately with pictures too hehehe..)

And so like I said earlier, I want to start my blog here FRESH.. 2009 is and will be the most challenging year for me, despite I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and has now become a SURVIVOR, life is just great! My Diya is growing gracefully, I have started back on my baking business and I praise the Lord for the life He has Given.

Grill Chicken with Mash Potato Mumy

Today I make simple grill chicken recipe for the family. Served with mashed potato and brown gravy.. senang jer buat nih.

Things you need:
Chicken, any part you like, like me I prefer chicken thighs. Garlic powder, a small knob of butter, dried/fresh thyme herb, salt & pepper for seasoning, and a bit of oyster sauce and also some brown sugar. For the mashed potato, you will need a bag of potato, couple of tablespoon of whipping cream milk, salt and pepper for seasoning, a knob of butter and dried/fresh parsley.

How to make:
Marinate the chicken parts with all the things listed above. When I grill anything I usually favor dried herbs than fresh ones so that it will be less watery when grilling. So back to marinating, chill the marinated chicken for about 15 mins or so in the fridge (covered yah).
Now start cleaning and peel your potatoes. I normally just cut them into smaller pieces and boil them in a microwave heheheh… once done, strain the potatoes drop in the butter and season them and straight away mash to the desired texture. Put in the cream milk and stir (you can stir on a small fire too).
Now back to the chicken; put on a tray layered with foil paper, drizzle some olive oil and pour in all the liquid too. Grill at 200 degrees until crispy brown. For the gravy pulak; once the chicken is done, remove from tray onto a plate and scrape the left over’s on the foil into a nonstick saucepan. Add in more garlic if you like, a little bit of butter and flour, stir fry until foamy and light brown in color and add in water (just enough for gravy) and boil until thickens, corn flour at this point is optional. You can also add in mushroom if u like.

Good luck everyone..
